    The problem with your analogy is that you didn't specify where the holes are located, and how do you determine the size. For example if the basketball sized hole is just a hole in the upper cabin walls, it appears large to you as it's right in front of your eyes, but because of its location it actually didn't structurally jeopardize the ship. You should focus instead on fixing the hole on the bottom of the ship that appears pingpong sized to you cause you're looking at it from a distance, but is actually the hole that's sinking your ship. Is the problem actually severe or is it only appears like that to your eyes, and whether that particular problem warrants 1st priority for resolution. The ability to analyse the issues and prioritise their resolution accordingly is what would've saved your sinking ship instead of just the size of the hole you perceived.

    It’s funny you talk about leaving a letter for those who have “no soliciting” signs as though it were the nicer thing to do, which I agree with… but… I wasn’t door knocking in the first place. I was simply leaving flyers, and people were all stingy in the retirement community walking on the street or a neighbor across the street saw me and gave me attitude while I was dripping sweat and panting to finish off this section so I can drink another bottle of water. So I felt bad to even leave a flyer at the door of the “no soliciting” signs. Also, I was called by a property manager and he left a voicemail acting like it was so serious that I went around taping flyers to doors everywhere, and that he would report me to the police for vandalism due to the apparent difficulty of removing tape. And here I am doing all this in 100+ F and I’m watching these videos of young kids going door to door to do exterior window cleaning for $200+ a piece…. And I’m charging LESS than that for doing BOTH the inside and outside, AND having a very hard time with these stingy people. You almost feel guilty for making the slightest sound in the neighborhood! 😢 Also, I was reprimanded by the city for leaving flyers because they said it was horrible business practice as the flyers would advertise to potential robbers that the homeowners are not home… and I actually felt like they had a point to my disadvantage. I don’t hear this stuff being said on RUclips!

    Hey Adam, love the videos! But I need help, the #1 objection I get, that you haven’t mentioned or maybe I missed it, is “hey we’re good my brother or friend, cousin, uncle etc is a roofer.” How do I overcome that?

    Dead job find a new profession I’d know I’ve done it a lot sales takes no skill contract writing however take all the skill everything else is just people talking and if you say anything different it’s cause your trying to sell me a course and I’m not biting

    2024 has not been a good year in roofing so far. I have 20 years in the business and my dad is going on his 50th year and it’s never been so hit and miss in our area. Might be covered up for a month or so then all of a sudden nothing for weeks at a time. I hope it turns around and fast

      I have been in roofing sales for just under 2 months and haven’t made any money yet. All my deals have either fallen thru due to customer’s ghosting me or because insurance denied them. The rest are still in limbo waiting to hear back from insurance or we are trying to overturn the denial. I’m pretty much out of money at this point. Any advice? Does it usually take this long before you can start making money?

      ​@juce18 yes. It's helpful to have some retail jobs in the mix so you can get some money while you wait for the insurance to come through. It took me about 3-4 months to start making good money in roofing sales. What state are you in? Florida insurance market has gotten to be a really tough sale. Hang in there. Best of luck!

      I have. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong though. I tell them about how the insurance process works, our certifications, 5 star reviews/testimonies, how we do things better/different from everyone else, the materials we use, warranties, and how we do a price lock per exactimate pricing. And yet I still get a lot of people having to "think about it" or "no thanks". I'm 20 in this industry so I wonder if even with the amount of experience I have as to whether people believe me?

    You either have hail damage or you don’t. Be very careful to NOT get caught up in a fraudulent claim. The insurance adjuster can smell a fraudulent claim like a shark smells blood 🩸 in the water. Then you as the home owner are in a really bad position.

    Hey, Adam! I'll be starting my journey as a roofing advocate in early August. I'm saving up some funds to prepay my expenses while still employed at my current job and just wanted to tell you that I appreciate you and your videos are helping me prepare for what's to come next! My initial motivator will be to not return to my previous job. I think this will stick with me though through my time as a roofing advocate (I forget the term you use, I like yours better). My long term Motivator is to live a comfortable life with my wife and eventually travel the world like we want to do.

    I work hard to remember the person who knocked on my door, the company they are with. I do this because they go on my list. The list is for the companies that I will never allow to work for me, for any reason. I don't care if it saved me thousands of dollars. For then to ignore the no soliciting sign, and mind you... this JUST happened as this video was playing, for them to ignore the signs means they are not reputable enough to ever get my hard earned dollars. To not care if I have reasons for no soliciting means they don't care Anything about the homeowner and in it for money only. I also keep this list handy so when people ask on the next door thing, I say, I wouldn't use these companies. Truth is... if you are so desperate you are cold calling me when I am on the national do not call list, or you are bugging me in my home. Then I feel your company doesn't do well probably due to horrible work... at the least, horrible work ethic. Otherwise, you'd be too busy for such things. The one that showed up today and ignored TWO signs... yeah, they tried to claim they work with the electric company... which they do not. Our electric company doesn't work with outside companies and have said so multiple times when I call them. Once I hear that, I tell them to have the electric company send an email to my account Since the electric company already emails me my bill monthly. Hate to tell ya... Every piece of mail that isn't a bill or from a friend/family member, goes into the shedder the minute I bring it into the house. If it is so deceitful that I open it... well... they go on the list. How to get my business. Do great work... I'll come find you and get on your schedule with all the great work I can see you have done already. I work to find who people use and who are happy with the work and the workers.

      The 50 year super warranty for extra cost is a complete waste in most cases. But a higher class of storm rating that will prevent filing a claim at year 10 to 15 is worth it. For example Tamko Titan XD should go at least 15 but more likely 20 to 25 before being vulnerable (assuming of course there isn’t a massive storm).
